BERMUDA STORM

The 4D attraction takes over 300 guests on a Caribbean Sea adventure which quickly spirals out of control. Aboard the excursion ship ‘Conch’, visitors experience a paranormal storm, pirate attacks and the assault of a giant kraken on the world’s largest motion simulator. The gigantic, 1,682-square-metre curved projection screen, combined with wind, water and light effects, allows guests to feel every wave and clap of thunder. This attraction’s exceptional status is confirmed by two Guinness World Records and the 2024 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement.

MACK Animation produced all of the media content for Bermuda Storm, including the films shown in the queue line and the pre-show, the Pepper’s Ghost projection featuring Captain Bob and his animated companion Charlie, and the five-minute main film shown on the motion simulator.
Careful coordination was required to blend the live action and animation in the pre-show, making the character Captain Bob and his animated sidekick Charlie appear as convincing holographic figures.

The main film presented the greatest challenge: five minutes of continuous animated ocean scenes featuring giant waves, whirlpools and tornadoes. Each frame was unique, composed of hundreds of layers. This extreme 10,000 x 2,000 pixel format at 60 fps required hundreds of terabytes of render data and massive computing power.
